About this event
Quad City native Mike Conrad brings his jazz trio to The Grape Life for a special evening of original music and creative interplay. An award-winning composer, pianist, and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Iowa, Conrad has earned four ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards and the 2023 Sammy Nestico Award, among other honors. Joining him are fellow Quad City native Drew Morton, a versatile bassist and longtime collaborator, and Chris Jensen, an accomplished drummer and University of Iowa audio engineer. With two albums of original music and appearances throughout the Midwest, including the Iowa City Jazz Festival, the trio blends distinct musical personalities into an engaging sound filled with improvisation, interaction, and expression.
