  • A vacant home at 920 East 6th Street partially collapsed Monday evening, prompting fire crews to order an emergency demolition (no injuries were reported) as officials investigate the cause.  KWQC

  • Delta Air Lines will add a third daily nonstop flight from Moline to Atlanta with takeoff at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20 as tickets go on sale and the airport expands service to meet rising demand.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • Delta will add a third daily flight from Quad-Cities to Atlanta beginning April 20 and tickets are on sale now.  The Dispatch Argus
  • Leah Pitts has been named assistant state director for operations and compliance at America’s Small Business Development Center Iowa. She brings over five years of experience to guide statewide improvements in operational consistency and regulatory compliance.  Quad Cities Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • David Staples, the first graduate of the Augustana Prison Education Program, thrived in his mental health counseling studies at Western Illinois University while continuing community work; the program expanded courses and held its first on-site graduation ceremony in spring 2025 at East Moline Correctional Center.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • The Davenport Public Library has launched a Library of Things program that lets cardholders borrow items such as hand tool sets, blood pressure monitors, and craft supplies for seven days. Residents from Davenport, Rock Island and Bettendorf can try new hobbies and reduce waste + enjoy library services in a fresh way.  KWQC
  • America Colmenares, a Spanish professor at Augustana College, learned while visiting family in Florida that Venezuela was invaded over the weekend—she said it felt like watching a movie and hopes for steady change for Venezuelans lacking basic essentials.  KWQC

  • UnityPoint Health and its two foundations were nationally honored for their philanthropy in fiscal year 2024, with the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy naming them a top organization and Trinity Health Foundation earning high performer awards in the Quad Cities.  Quad Cities Business Journal

  • The second annual Kids Run The Show hockey game will be played at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Vibrant Arena at The Mark in Moline.
