  • Rock Island Rotary awarded $7,500 to five nonprofits that serve the Quad-Cities. The funding helps support local programs + strengthens community ties.  The Dispatch Argus

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After a fire on Dixwell Street displaced 18 people and sent one man to the hospital last Sunday, the American Red Cross provided immediate food, water and temporary housing + financial and mental health support to the affected families.  KWQC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • John Deere Pavilion is partnering with STEAM on Wheels to offer six free, hands-on STEAM sessions for kids 5 to 15. Sessions run on select Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Jan. 17 — March 28 at 1400 River Drive in downtown Moline; parents must remain on-site.  Quad Cities Business Journal

  • A St. Ambrose student was honored on the Senate floor Monday when Sen. Charles Grassley recognized her for long-term blood donations as a member of the Impact Life Blood Donor Hall of Fame. Brenna Teerlinck continues donating blood in memory of her loved ones.  KWQC

  • Jo Nicholson with the Humane Society of Scott County introduced Nugget, an adoptable pet in foster care who loves people but does best in homes with older children and no other pets, and urged interested persons to visit the shelter website (hssc.us) for more details.  KWQC
