  • On Tuesday, the City of Bettendorf honored two men who acted quickly to assist a man who collapsed at Palmer Hills Golf Course last November + their actions show a strong commitment to local community care.  The Dispatch Argus

  • TAG, a Davenport-based advertising and digital media agency, announced on Tuesday, Jan. 20 that Mike Bawden is its new senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy — bringing over 40 years of experience from roles including leading his family agency and serving as mayor of Riverdale.  Quad Cities Business Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Putnam Museum and Science Center and Davenport Public Library launched the 'Artifacts & Archives' podcast that uses local artifacts to explore 250 years of American history. The first episode premiered Monday, Jan. 19 and new episodes will air every other month.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • The QC Environmental Film Series will screen the documentary Out of Plain Sight at the St. Ambrose Galvin Fine Arts Center on Sunday, Jan. 25 with a networking session in the lobby at 2 p.m. and a Q&A led by reporter Rosanna Xia after the 3 p.m. film.  Quad Cities Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • In December, Augustana College and Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences began a partnership to improve local nursing education and expand the Quad Cities workforce. Full integration is expected in 2028 to further strengthen regional health care.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois CEO Diane T. Nelson announced her retirement on Tuesday, Jan. 20, effective this July, and the board will soon launch a national search for her successor to continue supporting the organization’s mission.  Quad Cities Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents near the proposed natural gas plant are urging Scott County supervisors to reject the plan. Barbara Holtz, who has COPD, asthma, and emphysema, lives directly across from the proposed site and fears its impact.  The Quad City Times

  • Country Manor Memory Care will host a free memory care presentation Monday, Jan. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at its Davenport facility (900 W. 46th St.) where attendees can learn how the center supports those with memory loss while enjoying tea, coffee, hot cocoa and light snacks.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • Davenport toddler Jakai Pendleton beat cancer just before his fourth birthday this weekend, marking a hopeful milestone for his family & inspiring local support for childhood recoveries.  The Dispatch Argus
