- ➤ On Saturday morning, a pipeline near Brighton exploded when a pressure drop caused a four-foot section of corroded, misaligned pipe to eject, and federal officials later began investigating the cause while no injuries or environmental impacts were reported in Washington County. The Gazette
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Electro Freeze, a local frozen treat machine maker, will relocate from East Moline to a new 301,320 sqft facility in Russell Industrial Park this summer, adding over 200 jobs to Davenport. - ➤ A KWQC report explains dew point is a better gauge of moisture during critical fire danger this spring in Davenport. Fire officials warn dew points in the 30s signal dry vegetation — raising wildfire risk and urging residents to check burn bans before any burning. KWQC
- ➤ The Waste Commission of Scott County warned that improper battery disposal can trigger fires in trucks and facilities and damage recyclable materials. Residents are urged to drop off rechargeable batteries at designated sites (Electronics Recovery Center on Cary Avenue, West Lake Park, and Scott County Park) for safe handling. KWQC
