- ➤ The YWCA Quad Cities has opened Alan House, a new youth group home in Rock Island for kids aged 10 to 17 who have been removed from their families due to abuse or neglect (serving up to 10 youth from Children and Family Services and 4 from Homeland Security agencies). KWQC
- ➤ The annual Martini Shake Off fundraiser raised funds for HAVlife, a charity that supports youth in athletics, music or arts at River Center in downtown Davenport on Friday, Feb. 20. Hundreds gathered to taste martinis from over 20 local businesses during a country and western themed event with a celebrity judge. KWQC

- ➤ Margot Day is named the new development director at Common Chord in downtown Davenport. She began her role Wednesday, Feb. 4 and will lead efforts to build resources for the community music organization. Quad Cities Business Journal

- ➤ Elevate Iowa is accepting scholarship applications for a program that awards fifteen $500 scholarships to high school seniors pursuing advanced manufacturing training at community colleges — easing the burden of college costs — with applications due by Sunday, Mar. 29. - ➤ Sixty-five Walcott Elementary students received free glasses from nonprofit Vision to Learn after Davenport Schools partnered with the group (backed by a United Way Quad Cities grant). The organization will extend the service to Buffalo, Eisenhower, Jefferson, and McKinley elementary schools this school year. KWQC

- ➤ Federal funding approved last month will protect jobs and expand the drone program at Rock Island Arsenal. The bill allocates millions for projects—like stabilizing labor rates, boosting manufacturing and preserving the Arsenal Museum. KWQC
- ➤ The Illinois Quad Cities Civic Center Authority is searching for a new executive director for Vibrant Arena at the Mark in Moline and expects to finish in May; the job offers a salary of $200,000 to $225,000 (bonus included) and has drawn several candidates. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ At the Flood Resiliency Alliance meeting held Wednesday at Riverdale City Hall, Davenport City Engineer Brian Schadt reviewed flood protection measures while local leaders & community members discussed securing waste water and transportation routes for rising flood risks in the Quad Cities.
