  • The 11th annual Black Business Expo will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 1-4 p.m. at NorthPark Mall (320 W. Kimberly Road) where admission is free.  The Quad City Times

  • A Meta-controlled company finished buying farmland in northern Davenport for a proposed data center a year ago — yet no groundbreaking has occurred. The developer will share public details when ready.  The Quad City Times
  • The QC Business Showcase: Hob Nosh ’26 will invite over 700 attendees on Wednesday, Apr. 22 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bend XPO Center in East Moline, where chamber members & Quad Citizens can enjoy food, drink and business opportunities.  Quad Cities Business Journal

  • YWCA Quad Cities is hosting a Career Readiness Workshop on Friday, Feb. 27 and a Youth Career Fair on Friday, March 6 to help local youth explore career options.  The Dispatch Argus
  • Central High School will soon rename its theater stage after a former school board president from Davenport as a tribute to her service. School officials said the dedication honors her lasting impact on local education.  The Quad City Times
  • A job fair connecting teachers with local school districts will be held on March 2 in Bettendorf for educators seeking new opportunities in Iowa and Illinois.  The Dispatch Argus

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Iowa House lawmakers passed a bill freezing tuition at public universities (Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI) for five years to block increases until 2031; the measure passed 86-5 and now heads to the Senate.  KWQC
  • Davenport Public Works reports that the Iowa DOT will begin replacing the bridge deck and pavement on U.S. 61 between Exits 124 and 124A on Monday — weather permitting. Detour routes for U.S. 61 and Scott County Road F-55 will be set during the work.  KWQC

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The 2025 QCAR report shows a 7% rise in sold homes and a nearly 6% increase in listings amid tight inventory. QCAR’s CEO Sharon Smith said the market, centered in downtown Bettendorf, remains resilient with new inventory expected in February.  Quad Cities Business Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kevin McKee is set to compete at his fourth Paralympic Games with the U.S. sled hockey team as they depart for Milan tomorrow with a game scheduled on March 7. McKee, who began the sport at River’s Edge, has already won three gold medals and remains determined to excel.  KWQC
