The QC Empowerment Network hosted its 11th annual Black Business Expo on Saturday at NorthPark Mall with nearly 70 Black-owned vendors, breaking its record for attendance.

Organizers said the event honored Black history + supported local businesses.

On Saturday, 130 teams representing more than 40 local companies, organizations (and families) gathered at Big River Bowling and TBK in Bettendorf to raise funds for Junior Achievement of the Heartland.

Lysa Hegland, CEO, said the event supports in-classroom and career learning programs for students.

Rock Island Arsenal has suspended its Trusted Traveler program and now requires 100% ID checks for all adults; visitors needing day passes between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. may visit the Visitor Welcome Center (Moline gage) while others will be screened at the gate.
