  • At the QCCA Expo Center in Rock Island, the annual Flower and Garden Show will run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring displays of garden decor, plants and free gardening seminars.  KWQC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Comcast is expanding into the Quad-Cities as it makes its first infrastructure investment in Iowa — marking its 40th state in its national network. The move is expected to boost local connectivity.  The Dispatch Argus

  • Carrie Underwood will headline the John Deere Classic Concerts on the Course series on July 4 — a local event offering a summer treat for music fans at the classic course.  The Dispatch Argus

  • IowaWorks held its monthly Opportunity Knocks job fair on Thursday at the Davenport office on E. Kimberly Road, where more than 10 employers met with job seekers. Attendees shared resumes and received help with resume writing, mock interviews, and soft skills training & job advice.  KWQC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Black Hawk College will induct seven alumni at the Black & Gold Celebration on Thursday, April 2 at Bally’s Quad Cities Casino & Hotel in Rock Island. Inductees, who completed 30 credit hours and excelled in their fields, will be honored with keynote speaker Kenneth E. Allison.  Quad Cities Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A local Facebook group, Save the Wild – Wildlife Rehab of the QC, connects finders of injured wildlife with rehabilitators, including Brenda Moffitt who has 20 years’ experience caring for animals at her farm and home. The group helps fund treatments so animals can eventually return to the wild.  KWQC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Davenport Public Works reported a sanitary sewer overflow yesterday in the 4600 block of Grand Avenue that flowed through a nearby easement to Goose Creek; a blocked main was cleared and the Iowa DNR was notified (residents are advised to keep children and pets away for 24 to 48 hours).  KWQC

  • A recent report shows young adults now account for nearly half of new colon cancer cases, as Dr. Ryan Perumpail at MercyOne Genesis sees more patients in their 20s. National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month promotes reducing alcohol and tobacco use, exercising and eating fiber-rich foods for lower risk.  KWQC
  • UnityPoint Health was named by Becker’s Hospital Review among 165 top places to work in healthcare for 2026. It is one of three Iowa health systems recognized and says it remains focused on staff support with wellness programs and career development.  Quad Cities Business Journal
