  • KWQC was removed from DISH nearly two weeks ago after a deal could not be reached, and local viewers are urged to call 855-2-KEEPUS NOW to help restore the channel's lineup. Alternative viewing options include cable+satellite+internet providers.  KWQC
  • Hy-Vee's Round Up Campaign raised over $370,000 for Variety, adding to a legacy that since 1983 has delivered more than $21 million to help local children across the Midwest (a testament to the retailer's ongoing community commitment).  The Quad City Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Visit Quad Cities invites patrons to nominate restaurant workers for the annual Service Star award in honor of outstanding service ahead of QC Restaurant Week (April 6-12). Nominations are due by Friday, March 27.  Quad Cities Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday night, the School Board discussed $5.8 million renovations at JB Young Opportunity Center to create a Children’s Village Preschool; the updates include a new HVAC system, playground, parking, plumbing, ADA access and enhanced security with SAVE funds and aim to serve up to 700 preschoolers and 850 kindergartners.  KWQC

  • AAA advises spring break travelers today to plan ahead and arrive early as longer security lines may occur at larger airports due to lower TSA staffing from a government shutdown. They recommend checking airline apps and contacting travel agents for any changes (per AAA guidelines).  KWQC
  • Gardeners are advised to hold off on planting heat-loving crops until after April 21 due to the risk of frost that may still occur. Local residents can plant cold-hardy vegetables now (lettuce, peas, and spinach work well) and wait for warmer conditions before sowing tender plants.  KWQC
