BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Lee Enterprises extended its shareholder rights plan from March 27 to March 27, 2026 after the Hoffmann Family of Companies, which owns about 9.8% of the stock, expressed interest in acquiring the company. The board said it will review any credible proposal and work with Hoffmann if further discussions take place. Quad Cities Business Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Davenport approved a new agreement with the public works union after months of negotiations—raising wages by 3% starting July 1 and planning for additional increases in years two and three. The Dispatch Argus
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Davenport City Council unanimously approved resolutions for the Duck Creek trail extension and 4th Street conversion projects—plans that include converting 3rd and 4th Streets to two-way traffic. The council awarded Langman Construction Inc an $841,489 contract for the trail extension and approved a $3,694,670 funding deal with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the 4th Street project—3rd Street construction began in fall 2024 and bidding for 4th Street is expected this summer. - ➤ It is colon cancer awareness month and health experts warn that colon cancer rates are high in Iowa and Scott county. Dr. Ahmad Abu-Hashyeh from UnityPoint Health—Trinity Cancer Center said that younger adults are at risk as screenings now start at 45 and he outlined key risk factors, signs and symptoms. KWQC

- ➤ More than three dozen area employers will compete in the 2025 Quad Cities Corporate Games this summer as 39 companies in three divisions vie for the Corporate Games Cup & earn points based on sports, participation and volunteerism.
