- ➤ The Rock Island Police Department and EveryChild are organizing a pinwheel event to raise child abuse prevention awareness on April 8th at 11:00 a.m. in front of the police department at 1212 Fifth Avenue. Community members, advocates and law enforcement will join the event — each pinwheel representing a commitment to a safe environment for children — and residents are encouraged to attend. - ➤ Visit Quad Cities is honoring local businesses for becoming more accessible after earning a Verified Destination seal from Wheel the World. The group will host an Accessible Tourism presentation on April 23 at The Current Iowa in Davenport — 11 local destinations will receive accessibility seals and Sofia Bravo will explain how travel technology improves the experience for visitors with disabilities. - ➤ Local officials released the 2025 municipal election results on Apr 2 and voters in the East Moline City Council race chose new council members—bringing fresh faces to local government. OurQuadCities
- ➤ City managers updated Davenport residents on homelessness, noting that improvements in case management, vital documents and transportation are needed. Hannah Whitehurst said the findings may lead to future actions—although a follow-up meeting has not yet been scheduled. KWQC
