BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ More than $4.3M in SBA loans were awarded in March to seven businesses in Scott and Muscatine counties as part of $27.2M in statewide funding. The awards helped create 131 new jobs and retain 323 jobs, and a Davenport company received $150,000 to support its growth + boost local employment. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ On April 30 from 3 to 4 p.m., the Iowa Center will host a virtual Fareway Coaching Cohort to help Iowa small business owners get their products on Fareway shelves. The no-cost program will run through June 25 with follow-up sessions on May 14, May 28, and June 11, and applicants must apply by April 14. Quad Cities Business Journal

- ➤ A Davenport man identified as Jimmie Anderson — 29 — attempted to cash a forged check for $2,860 at DuTrac Community Credit Union in Eldridge and was arrested April 2; he is held in Scott County Jail on a secured $10,000 bond. OurQuadCities
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank cardholders will receive free admission to the Figge Art Museum in downtown Davenport on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6. Cardholders must show their card and a photo ID (guests do not qualify) to access the offer. Quad Cities Business Journal

- ➤ The Iowa Senate passed SF 603 which may weaken apprenticeship programs and remove local control in construction work — groups like the Indiana Illinois Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting and Illowa Construction Labor & Management Council urged Governor Kim Reynolds to veto the bill to keep quality training and safety. - ➤ On April 3, city officials broke ground on Main Street Landing— a 10-acre park, plaza and greenspace near downtown Davenport's riverfront. The project is funded by state, federal and private funds— and is expected to complete in fall 2026 barring delays. The Quad City Times
