- ➤ John Deere Classic started the 32nd season of Birdies for Charity to raise millions for about 500 local and regional charities while covering all administrative fees. The program will take new nonprofit groups within 125 miles of Silvis until May 30 and offer bonus funds plus a Lexus lease prize for the correct birdie guess — a move that boosts help for local causes. - ➤ Andrew Lehman (director of the John Deere Classic) said on Monday that Birdies for Charity (its 32nd season) began its giving by transforming the tournament into a philanthropic force within the community. The Quad City Times

- ➤ Christopher James, 19, from Pataskala, Ohio, was charged with attempted murder and intimidation with a dangerous weapon in Davenport after police responded around 11 a.m. on March 16 to reports of gunfire near 800 W 2nd Street—witnesses identified him as wearing a red sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes while firing three shots, with police recovering two 9mm shell casings and two live rounds, and he is held on a $25,000 and $10,000 cash-only bond with a preliminary hearing set for April 15 at the Scott County Courthouse. - ➤ World Ballet Company is set to premiere its ballet The Great Gatsby with a performance at Adler Theatre in Davenport on October 7 as part of a tour of over 140 cities running until November 24. - ➤ Grammy winner Brandon Lake will perform at Vibrant Arena on April 25, 2026 — part of his 48-city arena tour that includes a Quad Cities stop — and tickets will go on sale on Tickermaster on April 24 at 10 a.m. as he prepares to release his new album on June 13. KWQC

- ➤ Olivia Allen covers several new education bills where Illinois lawmakers proposed a bill to give teachers extra planning time and start a teacher apprenticeship program, and Iowa lawmakers introduced bills that let K-12 districts use a year-round school calendar, support school robotics clubs and require free feminine products in half of school bathrooms, all waiting for the governor's signature.
