  • Food Truck Fridays return to downtown LeClaire this week with three trucks serving food from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Friday until Oct. 23 except Aug. 14 + attendees can enjoy meals at local breweries and wineries nearby.  KWQC

  • American Power Systems (APS) is celebrating 20 years in business and will hold a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. today at its Davenport facility on 426 W. 2nd St.  Quad Cities Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Davenport Schools named Bernadette Brustkern as its new executive director of learning and results, pending board approval; she will start on July 1.  The Quad City Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Modern Woodmen Park celebrated 95 years since its 1931 opening on the Mississippi; owner Dave Heller (who took over in 2007) said the park has hosted baseball legends and major concerts, making it a cherished local sports landmark.  KWQC
  • Since 1960, the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park have helped develop over 400 players who later reached MLB, and fans have enjoyed meeting up-and-coming stars. The team continues to serve as a launchpad for future all-stars in local baseball.  KWQC
  • River Bandits manager Jesus Azuaje returns for his second season after spring training, saying he and the team are ready to use aggressive baserunning+competitive pitching on opening day.
