- ➤ The Autism Society of the Quad Cities hosted an Autism Acceptance Walk on Saturday to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month and boost local support—Eric Sommers said the event gave people with autism a safe space. KWQC
- ➤ The Ranch Riders plan an Easter Egg Hunt on April 19 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the hunt starts at 1 p.m.—each person donates $5 while raffle tickets are sold at $2 for one or $5 for three, with all funds benefiting the Children’s Therapy Center and several hunts set for different age groups including a special needs hunt. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Quad-Cities Head Start leaders met with Rep. Eric Sorensen on April 11th at Skip-A-Long’s Milan campus to discuss federal policy changes including the closure of the Chicago Health and Human Services office. Program officials said day-to-day services for 700 children will continue, but they worry that future funding cuts + reduced federal guidance may affect support for families. The Quad City Times

- ➤ On April 11, the Koehler Electric Season Opener at Davenport Speedway offered tight racing in cool conditions as several drivers committed infractions and Bryce Garnhart, who led all 25 laps, was found fifteen pounds light on the scales—resulting in Andy Nezworski taking the win. Next Friday, April 18, the speedway will debut the IMCA Mod Lites and host a visit from the Easter Bunny. OurQuadCities
