COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Quad City Animal Welfare Center is offering affordable pet microchipping from April 17th to 23rd for National Pet ID Week so owners can better reunite with lost pets — drive-up and mobile clinics at 724 2nd Ave. W., Milan will register pet info for safe returns.  OurQuadCities
  • Food Truck Fridays will return to LeClaire for the third year starting April 18. Local food trucks will serve meals from 5—8 p.m. every Friday except for the 4th of July and Tug Fest, and the event will run until September 26.  KWQC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Elliott Aviation named Michael Parrish as president today at its headquarters near the Quad Cities International Airport. The building displays a wall of art with photos of the company’s founders and employees — a nod to its legacy as it begins a new chapter.  Quad Cities Business Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Around 4:21 p.m. today, Davenport police responded to reports of shots fired near Pershing Avenue and Kirkwood Boulevard and blocked off Kirkwood from Perry Street to Pershing Avenue—no damage or injuries were reported as officers also walked near a boarded-up house and examined nearby bushes.  KWQC
  • A 40-year-old Davenport man, Joshua Jackson—accused of choking a victim on West 3rd Street to cause serious injury—was taken into custody Sunday and faces a felony charge with a preliminary hearing set for April 22 in Scott County Court.  OurQuadCities

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Downtown Davenport has seen more off-duty, uniformed police on foot since the Downtown Davenport Partnership launched a pilot program on March 24 using $65,000 from grants and local businesses. The patrols — carried out by 15 officers during weekday afternoons and early evenings over 52 downtown blocks — aim to boost public safety and connect people with social service providers.  The Dispatch Argus
  • F51/Territorial Road from west of Z30 to State Highway 67 in Scott County is closing today for about 12 weeks due to weather—local traffic remains open while lane closures and delays are expected with flaggers and a pilot car in use.  OurQuadCities
  • The Iowa-Illinois Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association will host its 16th annual Midwest Government Contracting Symposium on Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4 at Vibrant Arena in Moline.
