  • Pancheros Mexican Grill is partnering with the John Deere Classic for Quad Cities Queso for a Cause to benefit the Birdies for Charity Bonus Fund; from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 20% of sales from its four locations including two in Davenport will be donated and customers may win free burritos for a year, two tournament tickets, and exclusive merchandise (one prize per location).  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • The Ranch Riders Motorcycle Brotherhood will hold its annual Easter egg hunt this Saturday at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds — where over 30,000 eggs will be filled with candy and prize certificates — to benefit children’s therapy.   • Crime Stoppers in Davenport asks residents to help police catch two fugitives; Timothy Jones Jr. (36, 6 ft, 260 lbs, black hair, brown eyes) is wanted by the Iowa Department of Corrections for escaping work release on charges of firearm possession and intent to deliver cocaine, and Scott Williams (46, 6 ft 3 in, 210 lbs, red hair, blue eyes) is wanted for a sex offender registration violation with tips to be submitted by calling 3097629500 within one week.  OurQuadCities

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eastern Iowa Community Colleges will host a free healthcare simulation at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 at the Scott Community College Health Sciences Building (500 Belmont Road, Bettendorf) to celebrate Community College Month. The event will let the audience see healthcare workers act out a realistic patient care scenario and ask questions about career paths.  Quad Cities Business Journal

  • RIA Federal Credit Union is celebrating its 90th anniversary by honoring the community with 90 acts of kindness—partnering with charities, schools, and veteran groups to support local causes, and it began by serving Rock Island Arsenal personnel before expanding to customers in the Quad-Cities, Midwest and worldwide.  Quad Cities Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers and Quad Cities community leaders met in Washington last week to ask questions about potential staffing changes at Rock Island Arsenal — the region’s largest employer that supports many local jobs. They sent a letter to the Army to get details on any restructuring plans that might affect the workforce and military readiness.  KWQC
  • Scott County Sheriff Tim Lane said the mental health crisis is an epidemic that may lead to more crimes as local law enforcement helped during several incidents this week. He said that drug use is a big part of the problem and warned it is a national issue—more help and planning are needed.  KWQC
  • The Bi-State Regional Commission is asking Quad Citizens to complete an online survey so planners can update transportation plans for the Quad Cities. The survey is open until Wednesday, April 30 and will guide updates for roads, bridges — bus routes and travel options.  Quad Cities Business Journal
