COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Center for Active Seniors Inc. will host a senior social services fair from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at CASI on 1035 W, Kimberly Road in Davenport — the event will offer key resources to help older adults stay independent. OurQuadCities
- ➤ On Saturday, organ donors and supporters walked in Bettendorf to honor life and raise funds for the Iowa Donor Network—helping save lives. The money raised will be donated to support organ, eye and tissue donation. KWQC
- ➤ On Tuesday, May 13 at 10 a.m., the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will start outside the Bettendorf Police Department at 1609 State St with officers carrying the Flame of Hope for nearly 7.5 miles through Bettendorf and Davenport. The run ends at Sports Fans Pizza at 1723 Grant St—support vehicles will be provided and participants do not have to run the entire route. OurQuadCities
- ➤ The Ranch Riders held their 29th annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, filling more than 30,000 eggs with candy and prize certificates at a large event in Davenport—local hunter Malaysia said it was fun to collect and open the eggs. KWQC
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Iowa American Water partnered with MercyOne Genesis and the Scott County Emergency Management Agency to drill a new water well near the hospital’s East Campus in Davenport — the project will secure a backup water supply for the hospital and serve the neighborhood more efficiently. The $5.6 million project broke ground in December 2024 and will finish its first phase in June as it aims to use less energy than pumping from the treatment plant on the Mississippi River. - ➤ U.S. Cellular cut 17 jobs in Davenport and 8 in Muscatine after it sold its wireless operations to T-Mobile—company officials warned layoffs were coming last month. The Dispatch Argus

- ➤ St. Ambrose University will honor Paul ‘76, Alva Sachs, and Don “Duke” Schneider ‘76 with the McMullen Award for their service and leadership. The award presentation will be held from 4:30—5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 in Christ the King Chapel at 518 W. Locust St. in Davenport. OurQuadCities
- ➤ Luke Allaman, a Pleasant Valley graduate and Iowa State freshman, was chosen by President Wendy Wintersteen for a leadership class that meets weekly at (the president's residence) and gives each student a ($1,000 scholarship) to learn to lead. The Quad City Times

- ➤ On Friday night at Davenport Speedway, the Easter Bunny visited to give eggs and treats to kids while fans watched many races. Curtis Glover earned his first win in the Late Model race, Spencer Diercks led the Modified feature, and Tony Olson won again in the SportMod class—others raced in Street Stock, Hobby Stock and Mod Lite contests.
