  • Cecelia Bailey, executive director of Quad Cities Open Network, will speak as a featured presenter at the virtual Findhelp 2026 Connect Summit on Wed, May 13 and Thu, May 14.   • Lee Enterprises has named longtime leader Nathan Bekke as president and CEO, while Josh Rinehults will serve as CFO. The company made the changes today.  The Dispatch Argus
  • Quanta Services acquired Davenport-based Tri-City Group in the fourth quarter of 2025 to boost its electrical infrastructure services and renewable energy offerings. Tri-City Group will continue operating under its existing name with the Palmer family and current leadership staying on to serve the community.  Quad Cities Business Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The unemployment rate in the Quad Cities rose to 6.1% in February, with total nonfarm jobs in the Illinois section falling by 600 from last year. A state report released on April 23 detailed mixed trends across industries (manufacturing lost jobs while government and education gained), highlighting local economic shifts.  Quad Cities Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • More than 1,100 MidAmerican Energy customers lost power Friday morning near Rockingham Road and South Dittmer Street; officials have not yet determined the cause.  KWQC

HEALTH NEWS

  • Emergency room visits for tick bites increased from 68 cases last April to 96 this year in the Quad Cities, prompting MercyOne Genesis to advise that patients seek care if a tick remains on the skin for more than 24 hours — warmer winters may boost tick numbers.  KWQC
  • Gog Dynasty Buffet closed for staff training and deep cleaning after an inspector found 16 health code violations (following a customer complaint) and later reported zero issues on reinspection (the owner expects to reopen May 1) on Elmore Avenue.  KWQC

  • Carol’s Village Gardens has opened 30 affordable housing units in Davenport after five years of planning. Families that meet income guidelines can apply for a new place to live.  The Dispatch Argus
