- ➤ Crime Stoppers of the QC will host a golf outing on May 18 at 1 p.m. at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan; teams of four can register for $400, which includes two carts, four swag bags and four dinners. KWQC
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ May events are expected to draw over 9,000 visitors to the Quad Cities, featuring NJCAA women’s and NAIA men’s golf championships (a farm business conference and wrestling duals are also scheduled). Organizers project a $4.8 million boost for the local economy. KWQC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Davenport School Board approved renovations at Davenport North High School that will boost career and technology education this summer. The planned updates will begin after the board meeting today. The Quad City Times

- ➤ Illinois and Iowa departments of transportation are holding a public meeting on the U.S. 67 corridor project on May 20. The meeting runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Rock Island-Quad Cities — located at 226 17th St — and comments can be submitted online. KWQC

- ➤ Davenport ophthalmologists say monovision can help patients with near vision loss by using contacts, Lasik, or lens replacement for cataracts (a viable alternative to reading glasses). They advise consulting a specialist for the best treatment option. KWQC
