Good morning, Davenport. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 4th of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hiney Heroes, a non-profit diaper bank in Rock Island, has joined other local banks in the World’s Largest Diaper Drive to collect over 2 million diapers in May to help families in need. Donations gathered at several sites in the Quad Cities will remain in our community to support groups such as the Salvation Army in Davenport.  OurQuadCities

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hisham Bravo Groover talked with Our Quad Cities News about Video Games in Concert with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. He explained how the event will mix video game sounds and live music—giving local fans a new way to enjoy music.  OurQuadCities
  • At Davenport's Putnam Museum and Science Center, plans for 24 summer camps and new exhibits face uncertainty after a nearly $23k federal grant was cut two days after approval—similar cuts have hit museums in Des Moines, Waterloo, and Dubuque, raising fears of program reductions or closures. Local museum leaders say the loss of federal funds means remaining state and private grants will become even more competitive as they try to keep educational programs running.  The Gazette
