- ➤ On May 6, the Rock Island Rotary Club held its annual Awards Luncheon at the Quad City Botanical Center where local community members and students were honored for service. Sue Rector from Davenport received the Luckenbill-Wray Award and Kevin Koski from Rock Island received the A.T. Peara Award. The Quad City Times
- ➤ Quad Citians are invited to attend a two-day Armed Forces Day celebration at Rock Island Arsenal on May 16th plus May 17th; visitors must be 18 or older and show a valid photo ID to enter the U.S. Army installation. The event will feature live music, food trucks, military displays, a car show, live wrestling, fireworks and community runs, with packet pick-up available on May 16th from 3 to 7 p.m. and on May 17th at 9 a.m. Quad Cities Business Journal

CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Davenport Police shot an armed person during a domestic disturbance on Monday at about 3:15 a.m. on Jersey Ridge Road—officers reported the person was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital while investigators from the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and Scott County Sheriff’s Department examine the case. - ➤ Multiple witnesses testified in Scott County court that suspects Adriana Blake and Devon Braet drove in a black four-door sedan before detectives found the bodies at 5210 N. Division St.—one key witness said he rode with them and noted that Braet left the car a second time. This testimony adds to the case against the accused in the murders of Brian Goodwin and Amy Smith. - ➤ The Quad City Symphony Orchestra Association announced that Zack Morton—director of instrumental music at Moline High School—has been appointed to lead the youth ensembles concert orchestra and will begin his role in May, bringing his local and international music experience to strengthen the program. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A vacant three-story apartment building in downtown Davenport was deemed a public hazard and is set to be demolished pending city council approval. The demolition will occur after the council reviews the plan. The Quad City Times
- ➤ The Davenport City Council is expected to consider a six month pause on free standing solar farms to allow staff time to research and develop policy. Council members will decide if the research period will guide future solar panel installations in Davenport. The Dispatch Argus
