BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amazon announced it will open its second facility in Davenport. The planned last-mile delivery station (following its Robotics Fulfillment Center from late 2023) will handle local deliveries.  The Dispatch Argus

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, Davenport police detective Aric Robinson testified about cellphone records (calls, texts, and Messenger messages) that showed activity before and after the January 15 double homicide at 5210 N. Division St. (as part of Adriana Blake's ongoing trial for the murders of Brian Goodwin and Amy Smith).  The Dispatch Argus

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Scott County trial over whether Davenport properly approved settlements with three former employees began Tuesday with opening arguments and testimony from council members and a former city attorney who said he believed he had council consent to negotiate the agreements— the four-day bench trial will decide if the city’s delayed ratification of the settlements violated open meetings law and local contract requirements.  The Dispatch Argus
  • A trial in Scott County began Tuesday as former city attorney Warner testified he believed he had council consent for settling claims with three former employees — a claim supported by council members recounting closed, private discussions — while legal arguments continue over whether the settlements met state approval rules.  The Quad City Times
