  • Tapestry Farms received a $10,500 grant to fund its urban orchard project aimed at aiding nearly 200 refugee families — about half are from Rock Island — while boosting fresh produce access.  The Quad City Times
  • The Arc of the Quad Cities Area has rebranded its Community Supports Program as Limitless Living and says the change does not affect services, staffing, or its mission. The nonprofit continues to support clients with the same dedication.  The Dispatch Argus

  • Corridor Media Group, parent to the Corridor Business Journal and Quad Cities Regional Business Journal, won seven awards at an international competition in Wilmington, North Carolina, earning accolades in tech reporting, design, and best podcast from judges at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.  Quad Cities Business Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mercado on Fifth honored community leaders with awards on Thursday ahead of its 10th season opening on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. The festival celebrates Latino and Hispanic traditions in the Quad Cities and highlights honorees like the Crooked Cactus Band.  KWQC
  • The Illinois Quad City Civic Center Authority Board announced that Rik Edgar will be the new executive director at Vibrant Arena at The Mark. Edgar, who was general manager at the Peoria Civic Center, will start in early July.  KWQC

  • Coaches and administrators in the school district proposed renaming Brady Street Stadium after local football star Roger Craig. The proposal will be discussed at the school board meeting on Tuesday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m.  KWQC
  • The Davenport Student Built Home Program delivered a new house to the market, giving students hands-on experience with construction trades.  The Dispatch Argus

  • The Quad Cities International Airport will operate normally with good weather for Memorial Day weekend, so travelers should plan to arrive 90 minutes early and check bags to keep them under 50 pounds (a weigh station is available).  KWQC
