- ➤ John Deere, which operates a factory in Davenport, reported Q2 net income of $1.773 billion on May 3 as sales in its construction, forestry, and small ag divisions rose while production equipment sales fell. - ➤ Local food truck owner Martin Garcia Pena said rising gas prices and longer travel times between Rock Island and Bettendorf are pushing up operating costs — his business, La Flama on Wheels, raised meal prices slightly and added chips as an incentive to keep customers coming. KWQC

- ➤ Iowa DNR advises campers to buy local firewood to help keep forests safe from pests such as emerald ash borer and oak wilt; officials say use firewood at parks + campgrounds and burn it on site. KWQC

- ➤ Residents can look up Saturday night to see a rare Blue Moon rising above the Mississippi River Valley, with peak illumination at 3:45 a.m. Sunday. The event is unique (the micromoon appears smaller and dimmer) as it is the second full moon in May. KWQC
