  • Moline Regional Community Foundation awarded $2,500 checks to three nonprofits when Quad-Cities students presented them at the Junior Achievement Inspirational Center in Moline & the awards honor local service efforts.  The Quad City Times
  • Animal ambassadors from Incredible Bats will bring their interactive Animals Around the World presentation to LeClaire Community Library on Wednesday, June 11 at 6:00 p.m. — the event will let families see sugar gliders, a fennec fox, a hedgehog, snakes, and lizards up close.  OurQuadCities

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Bettendorf Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Wallace’s Garden Center—located at 2605 Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf—on Saturday afternoon and contained the blaze with regional aid as heavy black smoke was seen across the Quad Cities and traffic detours were set up.  OurQuadCities

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Quad Cities Chalk Art Fest brought colorful chalk art to Rock Island’s riverfront as artists were honored in a 4:30 p.m. awards ceremony on Sunday+ the free event offered music, food and hands-on activities for all ages.  KWQC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Davenport Central High School held its graduation ceremony Sunday, June 1 at Vibrant Arena at The Mark in Moline—where graduates and families celebrated the milestone. Superintendent T J. Schneckloth and class president Benie Toko addressed the crowd, marking the day with inspiring remarks.  The Quad City Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wildfire smoke from Canadian fires is affecting parts of Iowa today—air quality for sensitive groups may drop to unhealthy levels, the EPA warns. Forecasts say the smoke will spread east into northern Iowa and Minnesota over the next few days.  OurQuadCities

  • A real estate report showed that on June 1, 2025, active home sales in Rock Island and Henry counties included 173 transactions in Davenport at an average price of $215,174 and 91 in Bettendorf at an average price of $597,933—other local markets recorded a wide range in sale prices and market days.
