- ➤ The Davenport Public Library kicked off its summer reading challenge on Saturday with a Touch-a-Truck event at its Fairmount branch. - ➤ River Action is offering Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks along the Mississippi to share local wildlife, history, and sustainable farming practices as part of its Explore the River Series open for registration until Labor Day. Tickets cost 20 dollars for the talks and 10 dollars for the walks and a Bee Branch watershed day-tour on July 11 from 8:30 a.m.—1 p.m. will depart from its office at 822 E. - ➤ On Saturday, Davenport police arrested 50-year-old Diondre Wakefield after he drove the wrong way on a one-way street, crashed his car on Marquette Street, and left behind cocaine and cash in a backyard—he faces charges including controlled-substance violation, failure to affix a drug stamp and eluding arrest. - ➤ A union for theatrical stage employees in Davenport and Bloomington ended plans for protests against Tailgate N’ Tallboys after reaching an agreement that names the local unions as the exclusive bargaining representatives for festival workers in future shows—festival organizers stated they will bargain in good faith with the unions. - ➤ Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island is presenting Arthur & Friends Make a Musical for kids with shows scheduled until June 21 — morning performances are held on June 10, 12, 13, 14, and 17. - ➤ Davenport Community School District announced summer meal site locations for the 2025 Summer Food Service Program so children ages 1-18 can receive free meals on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of income. - ➤ City officials in Davenport are planning to move and shrink the DREAM home improvements program—aiming to focus funds on about 600 homes instead of nearly 4,700—to boost local impact. Council members will vote on the changes at 5:30 p.m. June 11 at City Hall. The Quad City Times
- ➤ Davenport officials are reviewing changes to the DREAM program to help more neighborhoods by moving the program to two new areas—one near Bridge Avenue and another near Ridgeview Park—that would lower eligible homes from 4,700 to about 600.
