- ➤ Today the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center Mobile Vaccine Clinic is at Silvis Library from noon to 2 p.m. offering affordable vaccines and wellness services with no appointment needed—on July 3 the clinic will move to Zion Lutheran Church at 1216 W. 8th St. from 2 to 4 p.m. where pet owners must keep cats in carriers and dogs on leashes. - ➤ On June 18, 2025, about a dozen Quad-Cities residents protested at Rock Island City Hall against a proposed 10-acre development near Milan Bottoms that would include a cannabis dispensary and a gas station. Protesters cited concerns over disturbing eagle nesting sites and potential flooding risks—city officials will vote on expanding the TIF district on July 14 and hold a second reading on July 28. - ➤ 18-year-old Minnesota man Alyx Hinton waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Davenport in connection with the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man and will be arraigned on July 10 facing six felony charges including first-degree murder, two counts of attempt to commit murder, two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent.
