- ➤ Illowa Council Scouting America will host the 2nd Annual Pintwood Derby at Crawford Brew Works in Bettendorf from 5 to 7 p.m. on July 17. Adults can build or rent their own pinewood car to race for trophies, including a special award for the top union car, while racer tickets at ($45) support youth camp and Scouting memberships. - ➤ Independent Insurance Services, Inc. marks 50 years serving the Quad Cities community by hosting a 1970s-themed open house on July 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3956 N. - ➤ A new museum opened downtown this weekend on Brady Street and now shows old burlesque costumes, photos and items that tell the story of American performance. Founded by Danielle Colby, the museum offers private tours and events—giving visitors a fresh look at a unique art form. KWQC
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Rich Whitaker, CEO of Davenport-based nonprofit Vera French, said changes to Iowa’s mental health system starting July 1 will lower reimbursement rates—some services may be paid only 30-40% of Medicaid rates—and could make it harder for clients to get the care they need. The state will combine 13 regions into 7 districts to streamline services statewide. The Quad City Times
