Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced the Choose Iowa Farm Crawl will return with a two-day event on Friday and Saturday, June 26-27; Iowans and visitors will tour farms & agritourism sites and support local producers while exploring the people, products, and places that define Iowa agriculture.
Grow Quad Cities released its Q1 market report today, saying national consumer spending was in its second-lowest growth phase in three years while AI spending kept GDP growth positive at 1.6%; the metro added about 900 jobs (since last December) and construction jobs reached decades-high.
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges has hired Comanchette McBee as its new vice chancellor of academic affairs.
McBee will begin her role soon to enhance academic programs + support student success.
Eight high school students learned electrical trade skills at the Heavy Metal Summer Experience at the QC Electrical Training Center in Moline Monday, where they practiced wiring systems and solar panel installation.
The free summer camp runs through Thursday and will conclude with a graduation on Friday.
Davenport Parks and Recreation said the Vander Veer Stone Fountain will not turn on this year at Vander Veer Botanical Park because underground mechanical and age issues require a full replacement.
Staff are working with contractors on new design plans + keeping the fountain’s historic look.
Young golfers will compete in the upcoming John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis from July 1-5.
