- ➤ Colona paramedic Liz Norin (31) launched a Quad-Cities chapter of Hot Mess Express in March to help women in crisis with cleaning and organizing after difficult times. The chapter has eight volunteers who have scheduled four home visits in the coming weeks (Norin expects to hold missions twice a month this summer). The Dispatch Argus

- ➤ New owners will reopen QC Fuel this fall in Davenport in the former PJ's Coffee space at 4650 Utica Ridge Road—set to revive a trusted fuel brand for local customers. The Quad City Times
- ➤ The Quad Cities Regional Business Journal won three journalism awards—bronze in Best Newspaper, silver in Best Beat Reporting: Tech and Innovation, and bronze in Best Overall Design—at the AABP conference held in Ottawa on June 20. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ Hall of Fame Fireworks at 712 W. Mayne Street in Blue Grass is partnering with King’s Harvest No-Kill Shelter (a nonprofit for animals) to raise funds as part of select fireworks sales go to help the shelter. The business will be open daily through July 5 (weekdays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with select extended hours until midnight) to serve customers picking up supplies for Independence Day. OurQuadCities

- ➤ Truman Elementary in Davenport named Alec Clark as its new principal for the 2025-2026 school year pending board approval. He led Edward Stone Middle School in Burlington and served as a teacher and coach in Bettendorf. OurQuadCities
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Better Health Foundation awarded over $1 million in Innovation Grants to six Quad Cities nonprofits for projects in mental and behavioral health, maternal and child health and reducing obesity + awards ranged from $115,000 to $200,000. The foundation, which has given over $3.9 million since 2023, said it will open Capacity Building and Service Support grants this summer + the new round aims to boost local health programs. - ➤ The Davenport IowaWORKS office will host a health expo at NorthPark Mall from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, that will offer job information and community health services.
