ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Today, Davenport firefighters responded to a structure fire at a single-story home on the 3600 block of Johnson Avenue with four trucks, an ambulance and personnel from Davenport Police and MidAmerican Energy—extinguishing the fire quickly and confirming no injuries. OurQuadCities
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ At a Scott County courtroom, Davenport police recounted how Devon Braet—charged with two counts of first-degree murder and additional offenses—was arrested in frigid, snowy conditions in January 2024 after investigators connected him to the killings of Brian Goodwin and Amy Smith at a home on N. Division St. The Quad City Times
- ➤ Joshua J. McConnell, 38, was arrested in East Moline on June 25 at about 6 a.m. on multiple drugs and weapons charges after a QC MEG-led investigation that involved local police and the Moline and East Moline Crisis Containment Unit, and he is held in Rock Island County Jail on no bond pending his initial court appearance. - ➤ Davenport man Jordan Lester, 39, pleaded guilty on June 25 to simple assault after his October 2024 arrest on assault and rioting charges. The disorderly conduct charge was dropped and he received a 30-day suspended sentence plus a $105 fine with costs. OurQuadCities
