  • The Humane Society of Scott County in Davenport said its shelters are full with animals—62 kittens, several dogs in pop up crates, and one terrified surrendered dog—and warned that more may be surrendered next week.   • Yesterday, the John Deere Classic held a ceremony at the first tee to honor veterans as part of its second annual Folds of Honor Friday program—an event that highlighted the Iowa chapter’s efforts in awarding scholarships to local students.   • A detached garage on Myrtle Street in Davenport caught fire Friday morning when someone set off a firework near the home, damaging a car and another garage + crews quickly put out the flames and no one was hurt.  KWQC

  • Surveillance video shows a firework shot at a Davenport home set a garage on Myrtle Street on fire (the call came in around 12:53 a.m.), damaging a car and another garage while no one was hurt; officials are investigating the cause.  KWQC

  • Davenport’s Last Picture House is busy with blockbuster films—showing Jurassic World: Rebirth, F1: The Movie, and How to Train Your Dragon—while future movies like Fantastic Four and Superman are set to arrive soon.  OurQuadCities

  • John Deere Classic has adjusted tee times for Round 3 today due to possible thunderstorms, with groups of three teeing off from 7:45 to 10 a.m. in hopes of finishing by 3 p.m. A Dierks Bentley concert is set to begin at 3:45 p.m.—gates will close at 4 p.m.  KWQC
