- ➤ A Midland Davis truck collided with a bridge on Fillmore Street in Davenport on July 7 at 11 a.m.—its front was crushed, windshield shattered, and cargo scattered on the road while the bridge sustained no damage. OurQuadCities

- ➤ The new federal budget will change SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits and may remove millions of people from the program. Iowa food banks in the Quad Cities are preparing for a rise in clients as the changes take effect. OurQuadCities
- ➤ Local business owner and entrepreneur Alan Goacher announced his candidacy for the Third Ward seat on City Council ahead of the November election. He said he will bring a fresh perspective — aiming to ensure that the central city and west side get a stronger voice on the council. OurQuadCities
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Medicaid cuts in a federal spending package will force rural hospitals in Iowa to cut services or raise prices, which could force some hospitals to close and reduce access to emergency and lab care. - ➤ Midwest Hope & Healing awarded $9,000 in grants on July 1 to three Quad Cities nonprofits that support people undergoing cancer treatment along with survivors and their families. Officials said the funds were divided as $4,000 for Genesis Health Foundation, $2,000 for Two Rivers YMCA and $3,000 for Children’s Cancer Connection to help continue these vital programs.
