Hundreds of Pokémon Go players gathered at Vanderveer Park on Sunday to join Pokémon Go Fest 2026, a two-day event featuring virtual monster hunts and food truck offerings — a lively gathering that united local families and friends.

Yesterday, riders of all ages pedaled the 11-mile Christmas in July Bike Tour to raise funds for Bikes for Tykes, which gives children bikes for Christmas.

The event, held along the Quad Cities riverfront trails with stops at local breweries, aimed to support 150 bike packages and raise between $30,000 and $35,000.

Lola VanDeWalle, director of the veterans center, has devoted 10 years to supporting local veterans throughout the Quad-Cities.
