- ➤ Rejuvenate Housing is opening its fourth renovated home at 516 W. 15th St in the central city neighborhood — a public open house will be held Thursday, July 17 from 4–6 p.m. to let community members, volunteers and local leaders tour the property and learn about the nonprofit's efforts to revitalize neighborhoods. - ➤ On July 10, the Quad Cities Community Foundation awarded $171,218 in Nonprofit Capacity Building Grants to 10 local organizations to help them upgrade operations and expand programs—donors gave over $38,000 to support these projects. The grant program, which funds work like strategic planning and technology upgrades, will open pre-applications for the fall round by Sept. 1. Quad Cities Business Journal
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The National Weather Service confirmed three tornadoes hit the Quad Cities on July 11 — one EF2 near La Motte that damaged a farm building, one EF0 in LeClaire that damaged an outbuilding at 5:30 p.m., and one EF2 near Davenport that damaged homes, a golf course, and trees. KWQC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After Friday’s storm, Davenport city staff inspected 18 properties—including vulnerable apartments on 35th Street and trees down in parks—and marked some buildings as unsafe while starting clean-up of mud and debris from local parks. Residents with tree or flood damage are asked to follow city guidelines for proper pickup and disposal during the clean-up effort. KWQC
