CRIME NEWS

  • Crime reporters Linda Cook and Sharon Wren discussed local scams—provided an update on the Devon Braet double-homicide case—and reported a discount store theft in the latest episode of the QC Crime Watch Podcast.  OurQuadCities
  • Brandon Westmoreland, a former mayoral candidate, was arrested on July 9 for third-degree sexual abuse when a woman too intoxicated to consent reported the incident—DNA and witness evidence linked him—and he was released on a $10,000 cash bond with his arraignment set for August 14.  KWQC
  • On July 10, Davenport police arrested Cuiheng Jing, 56, on charges of ongoing criminal conduct, pimping, pandering for prostitution, conspiracy, and being ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon after a Crime Stoppers tip led to a search that found credit card receipts, customer texts, and a handgun linking her to her King Spa and Jewelry Spa massage parlors—she is scheduled to appear in court on July 18 with a $25,000 cash-only bond.  KWQC

  • TCG Entertainment announced that the Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland tour will visit Adler Theatre (136 E. Third Street) in Davenport on November 28, where the show will include new acrobatic acts and holiday music.   • The St. Ambrose University Board of Trustees extended Amy Novak's contract as president through June 30—reaffirming its confidence in her leadership and vision.   • Practice rounds for the APGA Tour event at TPC Deere Run began Monday and tournament play opened yesterday with 54 players competing for a $25,000 purse. The second round starts today at 8 a.m. and the event is part of this year’s Cisco Cup Series.  Quad Cities Business Journal
