COMMUNITY NEWS

  • MercyOne Genesis Bettendorf Pediatric Therapy hosted its GOPEDS version of the Arconic Jr. Bix on July 16, 2025 in Bettendorf, where 115 children of all abilities raced in events (sprints, wheelchair races, and laps) and received medals, T-shirts, and popsicles while therapists noted the event has grown each year.  The Quad City Times

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fire officials said a Davenport home on the 1700 block of Christie St. suffered major fire and smoke damage Wednesday night; crews responded at 8:44 p.m., extinguished the blaze, and the homeowner (uninjured) remains safe as investigators probe the cause.  KWQC

CULTURE NEWS

  • Adler Theatre will host an Open House Happy Hour on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. to provide information on subscribing to the Broadway series and to let visitors try different seating options, enjoy small bites, a cash bar and a backstage tour.  KWQC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Ambrose University has extended President Amy Novak’s contract—Novak has led the school since 2021 and will remain as its 14th president.  The Dispatch Argus
  • Campers in the Adventures in Nursing program at MercyOne Genesis learned real-life emergency care skills during a simulation on July 16 — practicing neck immobilization and injury assessment— as part of their nursing career training.  Quad Cities Business Journal

  • On Tuesday, July 15, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office held a ceremony at its Patrol Headquarters at 3206 South 16th Ave. in Eldridge where Deputy Jake Turner—a Davenport native—and Deputy Zach Ahrens were promoted to sergeant.  OurQuadCities
