- ➤ A new women’s shelter called Kinna’s House of Love in Davenport is seeking volunteers to help women and girls who are escaping abuse. Founder Luekinna Hodges said the shelter will offer round the clock care including mental health support — hygiene products and a weekly hot meal. KWQC
- ➤ Rev. Faith Fowler, executive director of Detroit-based Cass Community Social Services, will speak at Project NOW's annual housing summit in Rock Island on Aug. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.+ she will share how building and leasing tiny homes can help low-income families work toward owning a home+ the event costs $15 with breakfast. - ➤ Today, MercyOne Genesis Pack the Bus returns to collect school supplies for area children at sites in Davenport, Bettendorf, Silvis and Aledo until July 24. - ➤ Six local credit unions donated $23,500 to support NEST Café in Rock Island, and UnityPoint Health (Trinity Bettendorf) and UnityPoint Health (Rock Island) received the American College of Cardiology's Platinum Performance Award for chest pain treatment. - ➤ On July 4, Nathan Steen—a 33-year-old Davenport man—punched a victim through an open car window on Jebens Avenue, causing an eye injury that required surgery, and he was taken into custody Sunday while facing felony charges with arraignment set for Aug. 7. OurQuadCities

- ➤ Jason Gordon, a local mayoral hopeful who grew up here, promised transparency if elected after Mayor Mike Matson said he would not seek a fourth term—he criticized the handling of separation agreements and warned that the city must boost staffing for building safety checks.
