  • Several Davenport high school classes will hold reunions over the Bix 7 weekend as they plan to reconnect around the 7-mile race on July 26. Organizers are scheduling evening and daytime gatherings at local venues—events that offer a chance to honor past traditions and remember classmates lost in recent times.  The Quad City Times
  • The Arc of the Quad Cities Area is honoring disability pride this month with a Pick-a-Date fundraiser that helps secure community access & a food drive on July 26 that gives a ticket voucher for a River Bandits game.   • A car hit a guardrail on Kimberly Road near Eastern Avenue in Davenport on Thursday morning—causing westbound traffic to back up and two people to be taken to the hospital.  KWQC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • QCR Holdings said it made $29 million and earned $1.71 a share in the quarter ending June 30, with CEO Todd Gipple noting strong loan growth and higher net interest income in its report on July 23. The firm also showed higher noninterest income and began building a new 100,000-square-foot headquarters in northeast Bettendorf — set to finish by late 2026 — as it plans for further loan growth.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • Happy Joe's Pizza & Ice Cream expanded into Florida by opening a new restaurant in Navarre in April that set record sales for a single day and for one week, the company said. The milestone supports plans to open more locations in Texas and other markets.  Quad Cities Business Journal

  • Health experts warn that rising temperatures across the Quad Cities put people spending long hours outdoors at risk for heat exhaustion, which comes with easy signs such as dizziness, nausea and muscle cramps—if severe symptoms like confusion or loss of consciousness appear, one should call 911 immediately.  KWQC

SPORTS NEWS

  • The NCAA awarded the Division III Wrestling Championships to the Quad Cities for the 2027—28 season, as Visit Quad Cities in partnership with Augustana College made the announcement on July 22. The matches will be held at the Vibrant Arena at The Mark in downtown Moline from March 10th to 11th, 2028 and are expected to generate nearly $1 million in direct economic impact.  Quad Cities Business Journal
