- ➤ The American Red Cross of Illinois partnered with local, state, and non-profit groups to host a multi-agency resource center at The Center, 1411 N. Brady Street, for residents affected by the July 11 flooding. The center operated Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and offered housing assistance — emergency supplies and claim help while requiring clients to bring ID showing their address. KWQC

CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Davenport Police say a man was stabbed Sunday around 8:20 p.m. on the 200 block of East 37th Street and that emergency crews treated 54-year-old Joseph Padilla II before he died at a local hospital (police believe the act was not random). KWQC
- ➤ On July 27, police stopped Cornelious Dunkirk in the 1500 block of Main Street after a suspicious call, and he fought officers by punching, kicking and biting one before throwing a loaded pistol magazine during his arrest; he was charged with disarming an officer + assault and littering and is held on a $6,000 bond with a preliminary hearing set for August 5. - ➤ An East Moline desk clerk named Jayme Krouth is charged with second-degree theft after she stole and sold jewelry worth from $2,000 to $4,000 from an 87-year-old resident of The Fountains Senior Living Community—she admitted to taking pieces from two other residents—and she faces a preliminary hearing on Aug. 5 with a $5,000 bond. - ➤ On July 28, Metropolitan Community Churches and over six other religious groups filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Kristi Noem—asking federal courts to cancel a new policy that allows ICE agents and law enforcement to enter places of worship, hospitals, and schools.
