Davenport fired its IT director, Cory Smith, on June 5 after he accessed the city’s internal camera network in late March without permission or a legitimate business purpose.

He tried to cover his actions by lying to a city administrator and wiping his city-owned iPhone, and an interim director now fills his role.

This week marks 35 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed—its law bans discrimination in employment, government services, and public accommodations.
