John C. Coons, a 49-year-old Davenport resident, died Sunday when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV at the Madison Street intersection— the SUV driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and police are investigating the crash.
Residents escaped a fire on Tuesday evening in a Davenport home on the 800 block of East Rusholme Street—no injuries were reported.

A Davenport man, 53-year-old Charles R.
Lovedy, is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and child endangerment after he allegedly abused someone at least once per week over several years — investigators found photos of the incidents and a preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 15 with a $150,000 cash-only bond.
