- ➤ The Quad City Rollers will play the Aurora 88s at 6 p.m. on Saturday—at the Eldridge Community Center and Skatepark—with part of the match proceeds supporting the Humane Society of Scott County. KWQC
- ➤ A Quad Cities non-profit, My Gear Outreach—started by Liz Estilow—has given duffle bags with new clothes, toiletries, and toys to kids entering foster care for 10 years and now serves nine counties across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois by accepting donations that help buy age-appropriate items. - ➤ Over The Edge is a sold-out fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley that will take place Aug. 22-23 at the Hotel Blackhawk in downtown Davenport where 115 community leaders will rappel down 11 stories to raise funds for local youth—organizers added an extra rappel hour for 12 more participants and are calling for donations and new mentors to support over 200 kids in need. - ➤ Eligible Iowa businesses in Eastern Iowa can apply for Retrain & Retain grants that reimburse up to 90% of job training costs—covering skills like computer tech and leadership to help retain workers and avert layoffs. - ➤ Quad Citians will enjoy the free Alternating Currents Festival from Aug 14 to 17 with more than 200 performances held in downtown Rock Island, Davenport & Bettendorf.
