- ➤ FOR VETS will host the Vettes on the River car show on August 23 in LeClaire to benefit local Vietnam veterans, with over 250 Corvettes expected to arrive—gates will open at 8 a.m. and cars must be present by 10 a.m., while raffle drawings, a silent auction and a color guard ceremony will be held until 3 p.m. KWQC

- ➤ Ray Eddleman, the uncle of Trudy Appleby, said he felt deep sorrow as 50-year-old Jamison Fisher was indicted for her murder that began with her disappearance on August 21, 1996 (nearly 29 years ago) and his family has held annual vigils to lay her to rest. KWQC
