📰 Economy
After a Tyson Foods plant closure left over 2,500 Quad Cities workers jobless, local leaders and the American Job Center in Rock Island are assisting affected families (a local business has added a new shift for 175 jobs) while experts say the diverse region will recover in the medium term.
🎓 Education
Quad-Cities area literacy and library programs received over $320,000 in funding with recipients including Augustana University, Western Illinois University and Black Hawk College.
🏛️ Government
Rebuild Illinois and the Illinois Department of Transportation are advancing 13 projects in the Quad Cities to improve roads and bridges.
Five projects will finish in 2026 while others will start from this year to 2031 and are set to boost mobility and create jobs.
🏥 Health
MercyOne Genesis has opened a pediatric therapy playground at GOPEDS to help children improve motor, balance, and coordination skills.
The new play space supports ongoing therapy sessions and offers added benefits for young patients.
