  • The Quad Cities Honor Flight will transport more than 80 veterans and volunteer guardians to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 to visit military memorials and join a welcome event at the local airport — sponsored by Hy-Vee and other donors, with free parking for veterans and families.  Quad Cities Business Journal
  • King’s Harvest Pet Rescue is hosting Comfort n Cuddle Day on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at 21110 Holden Drive to help calm shelter animals during the Quad City Air Show—families must have an adult with children under 18 and donations of items or money are welcome.  KWQC

  • Freddy's Fritters Dog Bakery & Grooming is expanding in East Village with a new location across the street—making it easier for local pet owners to access its pet grooming and bakery services.  The Quad City Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Fisher's public defender filed a motion on Monday to withdraw from his drug case due to a conflict of interest—since a state witness is represented by the State Public Defender's Office—and it remains unclear if Fisher will be assigned new counsel for the case involving Trudy Appleby's death.  KWQC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Iowa’s Attorney General Brenna Bird warned students and parents Tuesday about the risks of deepfakes as schools reopened, noting that altered videos can mislead and harm. Law enforcement and educators remain worried—districts still lack clear policies for reporting and handling these fake videos.  KWQC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Davenport alderwoman at-large Jazmin Newton said on Monday that she will run for re-election. Newton stated the city must rebuild public trust as it repairs streets—expands infrastructure, ensures safety, and balances the budget.  KWQC

HEALTH NEWS

  • ChildServe will open a new facility in Davenport at 935 E 53rd St.—the 9,865-square-foot space will offer autism services and outpatient rehabilitation therapy including speech, occupational and physical therapy when it opens in early 2026. The expansion is part of ChildServe’s plan to grow its pediatric care reach as waitlists for special services continue to rise.  Quad Cities Business Journal
