- ➤ Hundreds ran in the annual Run with Carl race on Monday morning from Middle Road at Bettendorf Middle School—an event begun decades ago in honor of 15-year-old Carl Schillig who died while crossing a street and now raises scholarships for local students. KWQC
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded Sunday afternoon when plant staff reported light smoke from an industrial processing dryer at PB Leiner—7001 Brady St and quickly shut off utilities to extinguish the smoldering fire; no injuries occurred—cause under investigation. KWQC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Davenport police responded on Aug. 5 at 3:46 p.m. to a gunfire call at the 500 block of Fillmore Street and later found a home on the 1300 block of West 6th Street shot multiple times—23-year-old Jayden J. Mills and four others fired 10 rounds from a red Chrysler, and Mills is now charged. KWQC
- ➤ Police responded around 1 a.m. on Monday to a domestic dispute at the 900 block of 12th Avenue in Moline where a 19-year-old from Moline and a 37-year-old from Rock Island were injured during an argument that turned physical — both were taken to hospitals for treatment. The Dispatch Argus

- ➤ The Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities will host the annual Gordon Ney Jewish Film Series at the Figge Art Museum Auditorium with films set for 4 p.m. on Sept. 7, 21, 28 and Oct. 4. - ➤ Davenport’s committee of the whole will consider a resolution this week to lease Freight House for Boozie’s Bar and Grill by B-Z-E Holdings after the bar left its West 3rd Street location in July due to emergency repairs — the lease plan includes remodeling the kitchen and interior spaces. KWQC

- ➤ On Labor Day weekend, the 30th Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix drew thousands downtown as racers competed on an improved track with high-end go-karts — the event celebrated 30 years of kart racing.
