Good morning, Davenport.
Dozens of people walked across the Centennial Bridge from Rock Island to Davenport last Saturday, holding signs and flags while chanting in support of Palestine.
The protest was part of the Rock Island Boycott campaign organized by the Quad Cities Coalition for Palestine to draw attention to Gaza.
Davenport Junior Theatre hosted an open house Saturday at its new location at the Davenport Learning Center, 1002 W.
Kimberly Road. The new facility features six theatre classrooms—two dance studios and a tumble studio, replacing the long-used Annie Wittenmyer Complex and will offer classes starting Sept. 8 for children aged 3 to 18.
LULAC hosted its 64th Annual Fiesta Night at the Putnam Museum on Saturday, September 6—celebrating Hispanic culture ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month starting Sept.
15th—while guests enjoyed Mexican food, dance performances, live music and a heritage exhibit. Tim Garcia said the event provided a welcoming setting for local celebration.
